between my ceiling and the wall but when I took the masking tape off it took the paint off with it any other way I can the perfect edge without using masking tape??I painted my conservatory at the weekend and I put masking tape to make sure I got a perfect line.............
Purchase a edge pad which is designed to do just the job you want. It has 2 small wheels which run along the ceiling and keep the paint running smoothly in a line on the wall and off the ceiling or other walls. Other than that if you use masking tape be sure to get the low stick type (usually a diff colour-Blue or purple here in Aus) it wont stick to the paint as much allowing you to remove it easily without taking off any paint with itI painted my conservatory at the weekend and I put masking tape to make sure I got a perfect line.............
they sell ';painters tape';. the entire reason is so it doesn't do what happened to you. Look into that. there are also edging tools you can get at hardware stores. i used on the last time i painted. it wasn't perfect, but it pretty close. Good Luck!
buy a wide putty knife
buy a high quality paint brush, and have a pro, show you how to hold it to get a perfect line evertime, it is hard to explain but easy to show. It envolves seting the brush on the surface and making a slight rotation, all the bristles will form a perfect line, then just drag accross your border like drawing a line with a pencil, easy. All the gimmicks they sell you to make a strait line will not produce the same quality effect. Painters tape bleeds, maybe do a search reference ';cutting in'; that is the painters term for making a strait line
use blue painters tape get it at Lowe's
You can get these PAINTING PADS with little wheels on the side for a straight line. I use them for cutting in (doing the edges) all the time. Takes a tiny bit to adjust the pads depending on the shape of the cornices or the skirting boards but they are sure worth a go. Not too dear. The main brand is called Sure-Line I think.
And yes as above with masking tape you can buy the good blue stuff.
Happy painting
your meant to take the masking tape off after about 30 minutes of it being painted. not leave it till its dryed on come on pal
Sure there's painters tape in any hard ware store --home depot Lowe's true value it wont take paint off I've used
First, never use masking tape. YOu have to use blue tape, then smear some clear caulk very smoothly with a wet finger all the way on the edge of the tape.(this is what prevents ';bleeding';) After about 30 minutes or so letting it dry some, then paint over that, wait about an hour , then peel that off, It should be nice and straight!
Use the clean release masking tape for delicate surfaces instead of the usual stuff. It doesn't stick as well, but it also won't rip apart whatever you're trying to paint. You should be able to find it in paint stores and most large home improvement stores in the paint department.
Painters tape is the choice of most do it yourselfers, but personally, as a professional painter for 15 years I never used it. I used a painter's straight edge for many jobs, but the BEST advice I can give is to buy a GOOD ';angle'; brush, and take your time. The brush can make or break your job. Remember there are brushes for Latex and brushes for oil based paints. Figure on spending about $20.00 for each brush, also the quality of roller will affect your work, do not buy those 3 refills for $1., you only get what you pay for and it is most evident when it comes to painting. Cutting in a room takes as much or more time than the painting of walls etc.
