How is Langston hughes poem minstrel man and paul l dunbar poem we wear the mask related?

so both poets are speaking about the way that they need to act around other people. people who are not of color do do see the sadness and tortured feelings of people who are still not free.

hughes states that do you not here my inner cry..just because i laugh and smile at you I am dying inside

fthey both talk of how they shield there feelings from other people or non black people. non black people what to see black smiling and happy. (both of these poem were written during the black Harlem Renaissance)

torn and bleeding heart

suffer after i have held my pain so long

even though they seem happy to others there insides are still sad with the life they still live and the masks that they stilll must wear.

Even though they are now free men

the world will not give them freedom

-why shoulg the world be otherwise-

at the end the world still sees the black man smiling, even though the world of the black people has not change and they still cry for freedom from there tortured souls ,
