He's had nasal reconstructive surgery. He has to wear the mask to protect damaging his face again because another injury to his face could end his career. He has hardly any cartilage left in his nose to take another hit.
He's only had a broken nose once. He got so used to wearing it when his nose was broken that he continues to wear it. Kind of like Linus and his blanket and thumb.
A few years back he broke his nose, and the incident is still probably in the back of his head, so he wears the mask precautiously.

he originally started wearing it when he got his nose broken during a game. then he broke his nose again and decided to just keep it on cause he was used to it/ liked the protection/ thought it was lucky
to prevent another nose injury. He injured his nose numerous times, one more and it could be it.
he wears it today because if he breaks his nose again he will have reconstructive surgery because he broke his nose before
he broke his nose like 8 years ago and had to wear it and got so used to it he now chooses to always wear it.

he hates it when someone breaks his nose. he wears the mask so he can counter with a hard punch and deny it was him.
I believe it is because is nose has been broken numerous times.

first of all we call him RIP hamilton and its because he ha broken his nose before
face protection.... he broke his nose like hella times
so he won't get a broken nose.
